Steve Huffman

Co-Founder & CEO Reddit

Steve Huffman is the Co-Founder and CEO of Reddit, one of the largest online platforms in the world. Named one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in Al, Huffman has led Reddit through its initial founding, rapid growth in users and advertisers, and, most recently, its IPO and first year as a public company. Raised in northern Virginia, Huffman studied computer science at UVA. After graduation, he launched Reddit as part of Y Combinator's first class of start-ups in 2005. While it was initially a simple link-sharing site for news, Reddit quickly grew into a massive platform known for viral content, authentic discussion, and communities for every interest. In 2006, Huffman sold the site to Condé Nast and went on to launch another start-up through Y Combinator, an airfare search engine called Hipmunk. After leading Hipmunk for several years, he returned to Reddit in 2015 to lead one of the biggest comeback stories in tech—making the platform safer, more welcoming, and more modern. Over the past 10 years, Huffman has led Reddit's evolution across its product (image and video hosting, new app, developer platform, Al-powered search) and ads business (Reddit Pro, AMA tools), growing the platform to over 100 million daily active users and over $1 billion in revenue in 2024. In his free time, Huffman is a longtime mentor at Hackbright Academy, a San Francisco-based coding school for women. He also enjoys skiing, ballroom dancing, and browsing r/WholesomeMemes.
